If you don't mind me asking (and of course if you're able to share), did you write this first book as a standalone while hoping to get at least a sequel, or did you feel that this querying manuscript needed to have another story in order to feel complete? I'm writing a story right now that I hope to make into a duology, but I've heard it really should be designed as a standalone first!
Hi Alexa! Thank you so much. And the book very much ended on a cliffhanger and required a second book when I queried. I suppose ultimately it could have been edited into a standalone, but it definitely felt like it needed another book in order to be fully complete IMO!
